FORUM
RESOURCE AREA

You are probably hitting this page because you applied and were accepted for trial membership. You are new here, and you are hoping you've finally found The online novel writers group that's right for you. But... . You've got exactly twelve weeks to:

  • decide for yourself if this really is the right place for you, and
  • prove to us the above said same.

You've been assigned a mentor or even several. ADVICE: Depend on them. Ask them any questions you may have about the site and its means and methods. They will prove an extraordinary asset during your discovery and orientation period.

Download/Install MSN Messenger or ask for a Jabber email account from zentao, then download your choice of program to run on your computer as an interface. We do most of our work live, online in interactive workshops. (If you need one compatible to an older Operating System (OS), ask Zen- or Ted)

Use ZoneAlarm firewall (Free version is okay). (If you are running an older OS that can't handle the available downloads, ask Zen or Ted to provide you an older version.)

Use Norton AntiVirus or AVG (Free or Pro) virus scanner and UPDATE DAILY.

You WILL need Adobe Acrobat reader. (Again, if you need an older version, ask Zen or Ted.)

You WILL need a zip program. If you don't have one, there are several available for download to members. Ask Zen or Ted.

Lastly, you will need a finished draft, or, at least, a WIP, Work-In-Progress. (something you are seriously working on.)

Z7 Novel Writers Group is cooperatively owned by Kathi, Goshwin, Ted, BJ, DW, DA, Sky, Zen, Winky, Minerva, Womblin, and ed. It's sitting Board of Directors is Ted, DW, Minerva, DA, and BJ.

BASIC RULES OF Z7

The BASIC RULES of engagement here are simple.

You must write and you must read and comment upon what others in the group write, giving honest feedback. Remember: This is a novel writers group for dedicated, serious writers. If you aren't serious, the workload and demands of writing a successful novel will prove daunting.

Try to submit author finals for critique. Anything less is actually a waste of your time and ours. Of course you can submit anything you want to, but, do so with a purpose in mind, such as seeing if a specific scene works the way you intended. Dumping a draft novel manuscript into the crit bin usually only dulls the fresh eyes/minds you will desperately need for your author finals.

You may not plagerize. You may not steal another author's ideas. You may not store another's work in any form without explicit permission by that author.

The obligation is yours to learn the rules of the novel writing craft and apply them, and learn to break them effectively. We supply the tools, the resources, the opportunity to learn by example, the chance to learn skilled techniques from other authors, but we don't and won't spoon-feed it to you.
